Jim Bob,

I feel so blessed and honored to be your wife! You are a wonderful husband and a great father!

Jesus said the greatest among you will be the servant. You are a servant leader in our family! You lead by your Godly example.

You have always said that your greatest joy is to spend time with me & the children, and we truly believe that. Jim Bob, you have demonstrated your love in so many ways as a father.

I have sweet memories of you helping with our newborn babies, during those late night feedings. You would get up and change the baby's diaper and then bring the baby to me to feed. Your gentle spirit shined bright through those sleep challenged nights.

I remember early on when we started our used car business you would let the little ones "help" you wash cars. Getting to play with the water hose was a big thrill for them!

Then when we started our wrecker towing and recovery service you would take a little "towing buddy" along with you buckled in their car or booster seat, teaching them the names of streets and other trivia as if it were a fun game!

You taught the boys to work on bikes and soon our garage was transformed into a bike "hospital", full of old bikes the boys would take apart & piece back together, polish, paint & then park in our front yard to sell!

You took our whole family on fun bike rides. Often, I was pregnant so I would follow along behind driving our 15 passenger van with water and snacks. Then about halfway through the bike route, you would stop the convoy and help lift the little ones, into the van along with their bikes for the remainder of the bike excursion. The little ones so enjoyed this because with each successive bike trip they would eventually work up to riding the entire route with Daddy and the "big" kids! What joy!

Many times I remember you coming home after an exhausting day of work, we would enjoy dinner together and then you would say, "Honey would you & the kids like to go for a drive?" I knew you would have much rather stayed at home with us and relaxed but you knew it would be fun for me and the children to do something "special" with you. As we drove along and enjoyed the beautiful Ozark mountain views we would sing or quote scripture together. Sometimes we would stop at a school playground or public park to play in the cool of the evening.

You know how to make ordinary days more exciting by pitching a tent in the backyard and "camping" with the children! And you are a great cook over the grill! You can make some awesome hamburgers and hot dogs!

You are teaching our children to work hard by your example! I love that you bring them along side of you as you work on cars or do construction work, house repairs or yard work.

What a great idea it was when you decided to make our house building project a learning experience for our whole family! Our children learned valuable skills for life through that experience with you!

I'm so thankful that you have encouraged our children to have a ministry mindset, to look outside of themselves and to be an encourager & helper to others.

I'm grateful that you see the importance of music training for our children and that your focus is for them to use that talent to glorify God.

Your children know that you love them and they can talk with you and have a safe place to share their heart. You lift them up to God in prayer not only in your private prayer time but together with each one individually.

I’m so grateful that you read the Bible with us and we have family times of prayer together! You truly desire to humbly walk with God and to share His love with others.

Your children are blessed to call you daddy and I feel the most blessed of all to be your bride!

Happy Fathers Day sweetheart!

I love you more today than when I married you 32 years ago!

ALERT Academy

May 31, 2016

Most of our family traveled to Big Sandy, Texas to attend Jeremiah's graduation from basic training at the International ALERT Academy (Air, Land, Emergency, Resource Team). Alert is an excellent program for young men ages 17-26 that teaches search and rescue, dive training, survival techniques, EMT training, high angle rescue and a host of other skills. Alert inspires young men to draw close to God and to become diligent, conquer laziness, anger and to set goals for the future. Alert men have become first responders to natural disasters around the world, teaching young men to have servants hearts. Many ALERT graduates have gone on to become firemen, policemen or joined the military. Jeremiah loved ALERT, and the disciplines that were engrained in him are priceless.

We were so surprised and thrilled that Jeremiah was awarded the 1 Timothy 4:12 award for being an encourager and example to the other recruits. ( 1 Timothy 4:12 states, Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.)

We heard several reports that on the long 12 & 24 hour hikes Jeremiah helped others who were struggling and spoke encouraging words to them motivating them to keep on going and for them to do their best.

Jedidiah, Jeremiah's twin brother, did not attend the Alert training, but sent inspiring daily emails to his brother and prayed for him every day. The Alert Academy is life changing by pushing young men to accomplish things that are challenging and building confidence that with God's help, all things are possible. We highly recommend it. Joseph and Josiah have also attended the ALERT basic training and have helped in the Alert Cadet program (which is similar to a Christian boy scouts) and Quest program for younger boys ages 14-17.

As we enter into a long family weekend together, we want to thank each of you for the prayers, love and encouragement you’ve sent our way. Since the residential treatment program ended, we have been working with a professional marriage and family counselor to take important steps toward healing. It isn’t easy and some days are very difficult. It is a long road to rebuild trust and a truly healthy relationship. We are very thankful for God’s forgiveness, grace and help, as it is our strength and guide to rebuilding our lives. As the future unfolds, we are taking one day at a time and we are grateful for your continued prayers for both of us and our sweet children.

With Gratitude, Josh and Anna

Happy Birthday Mom!

May 26, 2016

Happy 75th Birthday Mom,

I am so thankful that you are my mom! You are such a spiritual encouragement to me and my family. You & Dad sacrificed to send me to a Christian school which instilled in me a solid foundation for life. You consistently took me to church and you & Dad saved up and sent me to church camps where I made a lot of my commitments to the Lord. You have faithfully followed the Lord yourself which has given me an example to follow. You have taught me how to share my faith with others and have given me a passion to help others. You have always believed in me and supported my hopes and dreams, whether it was high school basketball, starting my own business, or real estate investing. You have blessed Michelle & me in so many ways! We are so thankful for your prayers. You have stood by us and you have invested in each one of their lives, you have become "Super Grandma". You have babysat for us many times so we could have our "Date Night" and you have helped to keep our family running smoothly. You are a mentor to Michelle and our daughters. Growing up I remember many families you reached out to in love. God has used your example to show us the importance of loving and helping others around us. You have endured a lot of trials through life, and you have grown stronger in your faith through them. You are a Proverbs 31 woman, your life has impacted not only our lives, but also the lives of those that know & love you!

We love you so much!

Happy 75th birthday!
